26th Annual Volleyball Tournament Fundraiser
The 26th ANNUAL Atlantic Beach Volleyball Tournament sponsored by Sunny Atlantic Beach Club was held on Sunday August 26 2007. This charity event is the longest running volleyball tournament on the East Coast. Proceeds benefit Rock and Wrap it Up! a national anti-poverty organization and Let All The Children Play, a charity which promotes the construction of playgrounds for those with disabilities. The Tournament was organized and underwritten by Howard and Dana Taub of Sunny Atlantic Beach Club.
The Sunny Atlantic Beach Volleyball Tournament has raised over $42,000 for charities over the last 26 years. This year’s tournament rose over $800. “It was a gorgeous day to play” said tournament co-founder and director Syd Mandelbaum. Referees Nat Etrog and Robert Schwartz donated their services to this tournament and have done so for many years.
The Eldorado Team, captained by Dr. Tom Gould, overcame a Herculean effort by the Ocean Club Team, captained by Frank Denicola. Fred Ciampi of Champs Trophies of Inwood, NY donated the trophy.
Let All The Children Play! is currently in agreement with the Nassau County Department of Parks to build a two acre universally accessible playground. It will be located in Eisenhower, East Meadow, NY
Rock and Wrap It Up! is beginning its 14th year. Over 30,000,000 people have been fed through its tactics and strategies. Rock and Wrap It Up! School Programs and Snack Wrap! are locally implemented in Lawrence Public Schools, Hewlett-Woodmere Public Schools, Lawrence-Woodmere Academy, Long Beach Public Schools, Lynbrook Public Schools, Rockville Centre Public Schools and Baldwin Public Schools.
